The exhibition will start on Saturday 24 October with an intervention at the Hohenstaufenplatz in front of the KSTN at Boppstrasse 2 in Kreuzberg. This intervention with different visual elements will take place between 3 and 4 pm. Afterwards at 4pm a performance will begin that will relate the interventions in the square with the interior of the Projektraum to start the exhibition.
Exhibition RESILIENCIA by Ciro Beltran / 24th Oct 2020
Beltrán has developed his work from painting and installation, as well as from poetry. His work, in constant transformation, revisits word and image to merge and give rise to book-objects, paintings and installations. He has had 87 solo exhibitions in museums, institutions and art galleries in different countries around the world. In 2004 he returned to Chile to participate in the formation of the Art School of the Universidad Austral de Chile, where he served as director between 2005 and 2007. In 2008 he settled again in Europe, living in Spain and Germany. In 2019 a group of artists, curators and intellectuals present him for the national art prize in Chile. He currently lives and works alternately in Berlin and Santiago de Chile.
Ciro Beltrán was born in Santiago de Chile. He graduated with a degree in visual arts from the University of Chile in 1990 and later, between 1995 and 2000, he did postgraduate studies at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Germany.
In 1983, after two years of law studies at the University of Chile, he decided to devote himself to art and took private drawing and painting lessons with Ismael Norambuena. Later he began to travel to perfect his techniques and to exhibit in Canada and the United States. In 1984 he enrolled in courses at the Institute of Contemporary Art and in 1985 he entered the Art School of the University of Chile where he obtained a degree in Plastic Arts, mention in painting in 1990.
Ciro Beltrán was assistant professor of drawing and painting at the Arrau Corporation and at the sculpture workshop in the Municipality of Cerro Navia, Santiago.
Since 2005 he has been the director of the Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts at the Universidad Austral in Valdivia, Chile.
